Gatlin Beach is a relaxing sandy beach in Craven County. It's hard to find some shade at the beach, and note that the access is somewhat tricky. There are no amenities so bring what you need and please don't leave anything behind. Be aware that bringing food, practicing activities, bringing dogs, swimming, drinking alcohol, and smoking is not allowed.
Gatlin Beach is one of the more challenging beaches to access. It is not wheelchair accessible and difficult for disabled visitors and small children.. There are no lifeguards on duty at the beach, so keep that in mind, but if you’re looking for somewhere quiet to hang out or spend time, Gatlin Beach is a good place. The locals might not be that friendly. Due to it's hard access, this beach is undeveloped and remote. The cell phone signal is weak there, so be prepared.
There are no outside shower, umbrella for rent, and chairs for rent.
There are no water sports here. Bring your own food and drink since you cannot buy anything at the beach, and make sure to leave nothing behind but footprints.
May, June, September, October are the best months to visit Gatlin Beach and other beaches in Craven County, because that's when the temperatures are warm and there's probably less crowd (not guaranteed).
