New Chums Beach, a real paradise of wild and unspoiled nature, is a 2.58km stretch of sand surrounded by forests and by clear water. It's a clothing optional beach and when it's not crowded it is a pretty paradisical place. There's nothing like sunbathing and swimming au naturel. And the local attitude is good, so you're not going to be bothered by anyone else on the beach. It's an ideal and safe place for both adults and children to visit in the summer. It has clear water, and friendly locals. New Chums Beach is one of the more challenging beaches to access. It is not wheelchair accessible and difficult for disabled visitors and small children. You can go to this beach by walking or hiking and boat - note that it's not that easy to get there. There are no lifeguards on duty at the beach, so keep that in mind, but if youโre looking for somewhere quiet to hang out or spend time, New Chums Beach is a great place. Be aware that this is a clothing optional beach (so there might be nudist zones). There is parking space nearby. This beach is undeveloped and remote. The cell phone signal is weak there, so be prepared.
There are no outside shower, umbrella for rent, and chairs for rent. Nearby there areย no food options, so bring plenty of food and water and remember to take all the trash with you.
New Chums Beach offers a lot of space for sunbathing and family games. The water here is suitable for swimming, kayaking, and standup paddleboarding. Stargazing can be enjoyed as well.
January, February, March, December are the best months to visit New Chums Beach and other beaches in Whangapoua, because that's when the temperatures are warm and there's probably less crowd (not guaranteed).
