About Ngunggah

Ngunggah is a safe, pristine, beautiful, clean, family-friendly and secluded and small sandy beach in Giriwungu. It has clear water, and friendly locals. The water there is crystal clear, but it's prohibited to swim there, so take a time to enjoy the nature and the spectacular sights. This beach is so pretty that is totally worth it! It's around 0.11km in length, which is super small. It is never crowded here. There are no amenities so bring what you need and please don't leave anything behind. The views are amazing and the weather is warm all year round. The spectacular scenery includes palm trees, trees, rocks, cliffs, mountain, sea shells, driftwood, and seaweed - prepare your camera! Be aware that swimming and drinking alcohol is not allowed. This beach is also known as Pantai Ngunggah.

Safety and Access

Ngunggah is one of the more challenging beaches to access. It is not wheelchair accessible and difficult for disabled visitors and small children. To get here is an adventure. You can go to this beach by car and walking or hiking - note that it's not that easy to get there. There are no lifeguards on duty at the beach, so keep that in mind, but if youโ€™re looking for somewhere quiet to hang out, Ngunggah is a great place. Dogs allowed all year round. Ngunggah is usually not a great place to swim There is parking space nearby. Due to it's hard access, this beach is undeveloped and remote. The cell phone signal is weak there, so be prepared.

Infrastructure

There are no outside shower, umbrella for rent, and chairs for rent, so bring your own if you need. Nearby there areย no food options, so bring plenty of food and water and remember to take all the trash with you.

Things to do on Ngunggah

The water here is suitable for fishing. Walking, volleyball, beach tennis, doing yoga, and stargazing can be enjoyed as well.

February, July, August, September are the best months to visit Ngunggah and other beaches in Giriwungu, because that's when the temperatures are warm and there's probably less crowd (not guaranteed).
