Playa Los Frailes is a pristine, beautiful, clean and family-friendly and big sandy beach in Parroquia Machalilla. It's a clothing optional beach and when it's not crowded it is a pretty paradisical place. There's nothing like sunbathing and swimming au naturel. It has clear water, friendly locals, and easy access. You will find that the water here, as with many of the other Parroquia Machalilla beaches is clear and extremely inviting Ideal for snorkeling and for young children. This beach is so pretty that we guarantee that your photos will look amazing no matter where you take your shots! It's around 3.4km in length, and there are no shades. It is never crowded here. The views are amazing and the weather is warm all year round. The spectacular scenery includes trees, rocks, cliffs, cactus, sea shells, cave, and driftwood - prepare your camera! Be aware that drinking alcohol, smoking, bringing food, and bringing dogs is not allowed. This beach is also known as Los Frailes Beach.

Safety and Access

You can go to this beach by car, bus, boat, and walking or hiking. It's easy to get there, which makes it perfect for families! There are no lifeguards on duty at the beach, so keep that in mind, but if you’re looking for somewhere quiet to hang out or spend time, Playa Los Frailes is a great place. Be aware that this is a clothing optional beach (so there might be nudist zones). There is parking space nearby. Pay attention if you go swimming because there are sharks, jellyfishes, and stingrays in the water.

Playa Los Frailes is great for families thanks to the enormous amount of space. It offers a lot of space for sunbathing and family games. Bring your own food and drink since you cannot buy anything at the beach, and make sure to leave nothing behind but footprints. The water here is suitable for surfing, swimming, diving, and snorkeling. Walking and running can be enjoyed as well.
