Praia Lopes Mendes is a family-friendly, pristine, beautiful and clean and big sandy beach in Angra dos Reis. It's a clothing optional beach and when it's not crowded it is a nice place. There's nothing like sunbathing and swimming au naturel. It has clear water, and friendly locals. You will find that the water here, as with many of the other Angra dos Reis beaches is crystal clear and extremely inviting. It's around 5.18km in length with some areas you can find back in shade. It is never crowded here. There are no amenities so bring what you need and please don't leave anything behind. The views are good and the weather is usually nice. The beautiful scenery includes trees and mountain - prepare your camera!

Safety and Access

Praia Lopes Mendes is one of the more challenging beaches to access. It is not wheelchair accessible and difficult for disabled visitors and small children. To get here is an adventure. You can go to this beach by walking or hiking and boat - note that it's not that easy to get there. There are no lifeguards on duty at the beach, so keep that in mind, but if you’re looking for somewhere quiet to hang out or spend time, Praia Lopes Mendes is a great place. Be aware that this is a clothing optional beach (so there might be nudist zones). Dogs allowed all year round. Due to it's hard access, this beach is undeveloped and remote. The cell phone signal is weak there, so be prepared.

Infrastructure

There are shades, trails, cleaning, bicycles for rent, and bicycle path. There are no chairs for rent, outside shower, and umbrella for rent. But there are some shades to protect yourself from the sun.

Praia Lopes Mendes offers a lot of space for relaxation, sunbathing, and family games. The water here is suitable for surfing and swimming. Walking can be enjoyed as well.
