Praia Rio Maior / O Dique is a safe, pristine, beautiful and clean and small sandy beach in Porto do Son. It's a clothing optional beach and when it's not crowded it is a nice place. There's nothing like sunbathing and swimming au naturel. It's an ideal and safe place for adults to visit in the summer. It has clear water, and friendly locals. The water there is crystal clear. It's around 0.96km in length. It is never crowded here. The views are good but you need to watch out for the weather because it's not always good, so check The best time to visit Praia Rio Maior / O Dique to be prepared. The beautiful scenery includes rocks and trees - prepare your camera! This beach is also known as Río Maior.
You can go to this beach by walking or hiking - note that it's not that easy to get there.Be aware that this is a clothing optional beach (so there might be nudist zones).
June, July, August, September are the best months to visit Praia Rio Maior / O Dique and other beaches in Porto do Son, because that's when the temperatures are warm and there's probably less crowd (not guaranteed).
