Secret Cove is a private and small pebbly beach in Devonport-Takapuna. It's around 0.16km in length, which is super small, and there are no shades. There are no amenities so bring what you need and please don't leave anything behind. In peak summer months it can be difficult to stake out a peaceful place on the beach because it's a popular spot. Be aware that drinking alcohol, bringing food, practicing activities, bringing dogs, swimming, and smoking is not allowed.
Secret Cove is one of the more challenging beaches to access. It is not wheelchair accessible and difficult for disabled visitors and small children. - note that it's not that easy to get there. There are no lifeguards on duty at the beach, so it is a swim-at-your-own-risk zone. Be careful with your belongings because it’s not a safe place. Pay attention because there are jellyfishes and stingrays in the water. The locals might not be that friendly. Due to it's hard access, Secret Cove is remote. The cell phone signal is weak there, so be prepared.
There are no outside shower, umbrella for rent, and chairs for rent.
There are no water sports here. Bring your own food and drink since you cannot buy anything at the beach, and make sure to leave nothing behind but footprints.
January, February, March, December are the best months to visit Secret Cove and other beaches in Devonport-Takapuna, because that's when the temperatures are warm and there's probably less crowd (not guaranteed).
